Born in New York City and raised in Evanston, Illinois, Joan Cusack has been acting professionally for more than 35 years. Nominated twice for Academy Awards for her roles in Working Girl and In and Out, she received an Emmy Award and a total of five nominations, for her role as Sheila Jackson on Showtime’s hit series “Shameless.” A prominent Chicago stage actress, she has also performed in off-Broadway productions of The Road and Brilliant Traces. Her body of work in film, television and theatre is extensive, and includes roles in more than 60 feature films, including the role of Cowgirl Jessie in the Toy Story franchise.
She has been married to Richard Burke, President and CEO of Envoy Global, for more than 20 years, and they have two sons. She owns and runs an urban general store called Judy Maxwell Home in downtown Chicago and enjoys attending Cubs games with her brother John.
