Tia Mowry-Hardrict is a multi-talented actress, producer, author and one of social media’s most prominent influencers. She has been in the public eye for over 20 years, gaining initial fame and becoming a ’90s pop culture icon in her teens whilE starring alongside her twin sister, Tamera, in the hit comedy, “Sister, Sister” from Paramount Television.
Most recently, Mowry-Hardrict has partnered with Kin on a YouTube channel titled “Tia Mowry’s Quick Fix.” The digital brand includes a 20-episode series and social amplification across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat. Her channel is Kin’s fastest growing channel to date. Mowry-Hardrict boasts an impressive social media presence with over 12 million followers.
In March 2017, she released her first cookbook – the Amazon #1 best seller, Whole New You, by Random House Publishing Group. She also wrapped season three of her Cooking Channel series, “Tia Mowry at Home.”
Mowry-Hardrict rose to fame with a six-year run on the successful hit series, “Sister, Sister.” She won two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series and three Kids Choice Awards for Favorite Television Actress. She was also nominated for three Young Artist Awards for Best Performance by a Young Actress in 1995, 1996 and 1997, for her work on the show. In 1999, Mowry-Hardrict wrapped production on the show and obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the prestigious Pepperdine University in Southern California.
Throughout 2000 to 2006, Mowry-Hardrict made appearances in various projects, including starring with her sister in the Disney Channel’s highly rated original movie “Twitches” in 2005, and again in “Twitches Too,” two years later. Off camera, she voiced the character of Sasha on the animated series “Bratz.” In 2006, Mowry-Hardrict landed the role of Melanie Barnett, a medical student turned wife of pro-football player Derwin Davis (played by Pooch Hall) on “The Game.” A fan favorite, the comedy series chronicled the lives of women involved with players of a fictional San Diego pro football team. Her work on “The Game” landed her two more NAACP Image Award nominations, for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series.
“The Game” aired for three seasons on The CW before it’s finale in 2009. Less than two years later, due to popular demand by fans, BET picked up the series and gave it new life. Season four aired in the winter of 2011. It was an overwhelming success for the network and ranked as the #1 ad-supported scripted series premiere in cable history, and debuted to an audience of 7.7 million viewers in January 2011. In January 2012, “The Game” returned to television once again, pulling in 5.3 million viewers, making it cable’s #1 scripted series telecast among 18-49. Tia Mowry-Hardrict also starred with her sister in “Double Wedding,” an original film for the Lifetime Movie Network in June 2010, for which she also served as executive producer. In 2013, Mowry-Hardrict appeared in the Fox Searchlight feature film Baggage Claim, opposite Paula Patton and Trey Songz.
In the summer of 2011, Tia and Tamera Mowry entertained audiences once again, in their self-titled STYLE Network series “Tia and Tamera,” for which she served as executive producer. That year the show set record ratings for the network, being the most watched series launch in their history. Throughout 2012-2013, Mowry-Hardrict secured her sixth NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on “The Game,” a People’s Choice Award nomination for Favorite TV Celebreality Star, and two Teen Choice Award nominations for Choice TV: Female Reality/Variety Star (in 2012 and 2013).
From 2013 to 2015, Mowry-Hardrict served as executive producer and starred in the Nickelodeon/TV Land comedy series “Instant Mom.” She starred as Stephanie Phillips, a food blogger and party girl who becomes a stepmother of three children alongside her husband, Charlie, played by Michael Boatman. The series produced the time block's best debut ratings in the channel's history.
In 2012, Mowry-Hardrict released her debut book, Oh Baby! Pregnancy Tales and Advice from One Hot Mama to Another, (Penguin Books) which quickly became a national bestseller. In the summer of 2016, Tia Mowry-Hardrict and her sister Tamara released their second book, Twintuition, a series of books for middle school children published by HarperCollins Children’s Books.
When not acting, Mowry-Hardrict spends time working with several charities including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Partnership for a Healthier America, the Alliance for a Healthier Generation and the Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, actor Cory Hardrict, and their two children.
