Best known to audiences worldwide for his role as dad Jack Arnold in the hit series “The Wonder Years,” Dan Lauria has worked consistently in television, film, and theater since the mid-1980s, including playing the title role in “Lombardi” on Broadway and in 2012, he originated the role of The Narrator in Broadway’s A Christmas Story.
Most recently, he has recurred on “Shameless” and “This is Us,” and he starred in both the FOX series “Pitch” and the multi-season TBS series “Sullivan & Son.” He has appeared in numerous feature films, including The Spirit, Independence Day and M. Night Shyamalan’s Wide Awake.
His career began with guest-starring roles in some of the biggest hits of the decade, including “Moonlighting,” “Hunter,” “Simon & Simon,” “Hardcastle and McCormick,” “Hill Street Blues,” “Mike Hammer,” “Spenser: For Hire,” “L.A. Law,” “Scarecrow and Mrs. King,” “Head of the Class” and “Growing Pains,” among others.
Throughout the 1990s, arguably the heyday of the made-for-television movie, Lauria starred in some of the biggest ratings hits, including “David,” “Howard Beach: Making a Case for Murder,” three “In the Line of Duty” movies, “Rise and Walk: The Dennis Byrd Story,” “Terror in the Family” and more. Lauria has had recurring roles in “Party of Five,” “Costello,” “The Hoop Life,” “Law & Order,” “JAG,” “Family Law,” “The Good Wife” and “Royal Pains,” among others.
Other recent guest roles include “NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service,” “Elementary,” “Blue Bloods,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Hot In Cleveland” and “Person of Interest,” to name a few.
Lauria served as a Captain in the U.S. Marines, including a tour of duty in Vietnam, and graduated from Southern Connecticut State University, where he played football.
