Her classic beauty, combined with wit and comedic talent, earned Ford five Emmy nominations and two consecutive Golden Globe Award nominations for her ten-year portrayal of reporter ‘Corky Sherwood’ on the CBS series, “Murphy Brown.” Ford also starred in the ABC hit comedy series, “Hope & Faith,” with Kelly Ripa for three seasons. She starred for two seasons as probation officer ‘Shelly Kilmartin’ opposite Norm Macdonald on the ABC series “Norm.” Between “Murphy Brown” and “Norm,” Ford headlined her own series “Maggie Winters” for CBS. Ford also co-starred opposite Fred Goss and Jerry O’Connell in the ABC comedy series, “Carpoolers.”
Faith will next be seen starring in the 2-part Hallmark Channel film “The Bridge” opposite Ted McGinley, her “Hope and Faith” co-star. She will also guest star on the ABC series “The Middle,” created by Eileen Heisler and DeAnn Heline, in a reunion from their days on “Murphy Brown.” Other television credits starring roles on television movies include NBC’s “Field of Vision,” LMN’s “Sorority Wars,” the Hallmark Channel movie “Trading Christmas,” CBS’ “The Fish Tank,” ABC Family’s “Moms on Strike,” opposite Tim Matheson and Florence Henderson, NBC’s “Night Visitors” and Lifetime Television’s “Her Desperate Choice.”
Some of her many guest star credits include the popular series “My Name is Earl” and “Criminal Minds.” Some of her earlier roles included a series regular on the series “Popcorn Kid,” and a recurring character on “Thirtysomething” before meeting “Murphy Brown” executive producer Diane English.
Feature film credits include co-starring opposite Vin Diesel in Touchstone Pictures’ “The Pacifier,” the Disney feature “Prom,” and “North,” directed by Rob Reiner, and starring Elijah Wood, Jason Alexander, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. In 2011, Faith produced the indie thriller “Escapee,” written and directed by Campion Murphy, starring Dominic Purcell, in and which she also co-stars.
In addition to her acting and producing career, Ford made her writing debut in 2004 with the cookbook “Cooking With Faith,” co-written with Melissa Clark, which focused on healthier versions of the classic Louisianan cuisine of her childhood. Ford was raised in the quiet community of Pineville, Louisiana. In high school, Faith acted in school plays and in her senior year, she was a finalist in Teen Magazine’s annual model search. Faith moved to New York City when she was 17 where she worked in commercials, took acting classes, and did some modeling. At 18, Ford landed a role on the soap, “Another World.” After a year on the show, she decided to move to Los Angeles to further pursue her career as an actress in 1985. She currently divides her time between Louisiana and Los Angeles.
