Stan Shaw began filming a major recurring role on “Chicago Med” in early 2023. Previous starring roles include “A Christmas Winter Song” opposite Ashanti, Aaron B. Koontz's western horror The Pale Door opposite Devin Druid, Greyson Family Christmas, Jeepers Creepers III and Sidney Furie's Drive Me To Vegas And Mars. Currently, he can be seen in Carl Weber’s BET+ hit “The Family Business” playing Ernie Hudson's brother, Larry Duncan. Recent guest star roles include “Quantum Leap,” “Code Black” and “Criminal Minds.” Some of his most memorable roles include Big George in Oscar-nominated Fried Green Tomatoes, Will Palmer in the iconic Emmy-winning “Roots: The Next Generation,” Toomer in Oscar-nominated The Great Santini opposite Robert Duvall, platoon leader Washington in The Boys Of Company C, Jack Jenkins in Harlem Nights, Lincoln Tyler in Brian De Palma’s Snake Eyes opposite Nicolas Cage, George Tyrell in Daylight opposite Sylvester Stallone, Sergeant in Kurt Vonnegut Jr.’s Emmy award-winning American Playhouse production of “Displaced Person.” On stage, Shaw starred in the original Chicago production of Hair with Joe Mantegna, subsequently moving to Los Angeles’ Aquarius Theatre before landing on Broadway. Additional theatre credits include Sir Peter Hall's Via Galactica on Broadway and his Image Award-winning performance in the west coast premiere of Sam Art Williams’ Pulitzer Prize winning production of Home. On the literary front, Shaw won the Tribeca Horror Film Festival Best Screenplay Award for his original script Gargoyle Bob. Shaw is the son of saxophonist Eddie Shaw and cousin of the late soul singer Sam Cooke.
