Born
in Toronto and raised in London, Ontario, Canada, Chris Potter is best
known for his starring role as Peter Caine alongside David Carradine in
"Kung Fu: The Legend Continues." Potter also starred for three seasons
as Det. Sgt. Tom Ryan in "Silk Stalkings" and currently stars in the
Canadian television series "Heartland."
Potter discovered his love of acting in school, but he didn't initially
pursue it professionally, working instead as a stockbroker, until he
was discovered in an amateur theater production. He soon landed the lead
in the Canadian Broadcast Television show "Material World" and also
starred opposite Joely Fisher in the Lifetime series "Wild Card." Other
TV credits include "Queer as Folk," "The Young and the Restless," "Will
& Grace," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," and the TV movies
"The Perfect Assistant," "The Stepson," and "A Heartland Christmas."
Potter has starred alongside Catherine Bell in the Hallmark Channel
Original Movies "The Good Witch," "The Good Witch's Garden," "The Good
Witch's Gift," "The Good Witch's Family," "The Good Witch's Charm," and
"The Good Witch's Destiny."
Potter's feature credits include "Hairspray," "The Pacifier," and
"Spymate." In addition, he has lent his voice to animation, bringing the
character of Gambit to life on "X-Men: The Animated Series."
In 2001, he received the New York International Independent Film and
Video Festival Award for best actor for his first feature film role in
the drama "Rocket's Red Glare." Potter and his wife live in Ontario,
Canada with their son and three daughters.
