Episode 15: The Author When an attempt is made on the life of an author of a book exposing citizens of a small town, Matlock is called in to defend the suspected killer. Episode 16: The Rat Pack Matlock investigates the death of an entrepreneur’s girlfriend when he takes on the case believing in his innocence. Episode 17: The Nurse When a private nurse is accused of the murder, she hires Matlock using her stolen engagement ring as payment. Episode 18: The Convict Matlock sets out to clear the name of a man he defended unsuccessfully seven years ago when the man is paroled and once again charged with murder. Episode 19: The Court-Martial (1) Matlock is to defend his friend’s son, after he is charged with killing an army lieutenant. Episode 20: The Court-Martial (2) As the case progresses, Matlock discovers the lieutenant his client is accused of killing had been involved in illegal smuggling activities. Episode 21: The Therapist Matlock is hired by a popular actor after he's accused of killing the man who ran the sex-therapy clinic where he was staying. Episode 22: The People vs. Matlock While defending a union boss Matlock comes under scruitiny when a juror accuses Matlock of paying him off to vote a certain way. Episode 23: The Photographer Amy Adler had a juvenile record before becoming a photographer's assistant and after the photographer she works for is murdered, she begs Matlock to defend her. Episode 24: The Reporter After Laurie Palmer is arrested for killing her husband, the reporter covering the case is convinced Laurie is innocent, and goes to Matlock for help. Episode 25: The Doctors Dr. David Westlake had a reputation for making trouble for his medical students. After Westlake is murdered, any one of four men had a motive to kill him, but suspicion lands on Dr. Jacobs, who was seen fleeing the scene of the crime.
Season Two 1987-1988

Matlock flies all the way the England to represent Eric Gordon, a man accused of murdering his wealthy father. Episode 27: The Billionaire (2) The conclusion of Matlock’s murder case in England as he tries to defend Eric Gordon on the charges of murder. Episode 28: Blind Justice Michelle agrees to defend a college friend after she is accused of murdering her abusive lover. Episode 29: The Annihilator Matlock represents a famous wrestler when he's accused of killing a long-time rival. Episode 30: The Husband When Matlock agrees to defend Cassie's friend, he is shocked to learn the woman’s husband had another wife. Episode 31: The Power Brokers (1) When Melinda Stuart's source is murdered, Matlock gets involved in the investigation. Episode 32: The Power Brokers (2) In the conclusion, the FBI offers Melinda an exclusive if she pleads guilty, forcing Matlock to attempt to reason with her. Episode 33: The Network When a network programming chief is murdered, Matlock comes to town to represent the television producer accused of killing him. Episode 34: The Best Friend Matlock agrees to defend the young woman accused of murdering Stephen Cassidy, the author of a scandal-clad book which destroyed a political family’s ambitions. Episode 35: The Country Boy When Matlock's favorite country singer is accused of a hit-and-run, Matlock leaps at the chance to defend him. Episode 36: The Gift Matlock takes the case of Brian Emerson who is accused of killing his wife. Episode 37: The Gambler Matlock goes to Las Vegas to defend his friend, Jim Manning, after he is accused of murdering his mob-employed girlfriend. Episode 38: The Body Matlock takes on the case of a woman accused of murdering an aerobics instructor at Pinewood Spa after the victim slept with the woman’s husband. Episode 39: The Reunion Matlock attends his law school reunion where he meets up with his former classmates. When a murder occurs at the gathering, Matlock has to prove that one of his former classmates murdered another. Episode 40: The Gigolo Matlock defends a dance instructor charged with the murder of his married lover. Episode 41: The Umpire Matlock is faced with a number of suspects when a baseball umpire is murdered. Episode 42: The Investigation (1) When a well-known mobster’s estranged son is arrested for murder, he turns to Matlock for help instead of his father. Episode 43: The Investigation (2) Craig continues to turn away from his father as Matlock keeps trying to investigate the case. Episode 44: The Hucksters Matlock must prove that one of three suspects he is presented with murdered a scheming huckster. Episode 45: The Lovelorn Matlock defends a man who has been accused of murdering a love advice columnist whose advice ended his relationship. Episode 46: The Genius When Matlock's nephew is charged with murder, he investigates at a high-tech computer firm to clear his name. Season Three 1988-1989
Episode 50: The Lemon Matlock takes on his new neighbor’s case when he is charged with murdering the used car salesman who sold him a lemon. Episode 51: The Ambassador (1) When a visiting British ambassador with diplomatic immunity, is charged with murdering his lover, he refuses to use his immunity and hires Matlock to clear his name. Episode 52: The Ambassador (2) After Anthony Stewart is nearly killed in a hit and run, Matlock realizes that the only way to clear him is to find the woman who accused his client of the crime. Episode 53: The Mistress Matlock agrees to defend a woman charged with murdering her husband in a jealous rage. Episode 54: The D.J. When Michelle’s boyfriend and radio DJ Arthur Saxon is accused of murdering his rival D.J. Robby Moore, Michelle asks Matlock to defend him. Episode 55: The Captain Matlock is hired to defend Sgt Jerry Reese after he is charged with the murder of a police officer. Episode 56: The Vendetta When the brother of a dead convict takes Michelle hostage, Tyler and Julie must convince Ned not to kill Matlock. Episode 57: The Mayor (1) When sixties-hangover Chris Reardon is charged with murdering Chicago mayor, Matlock comes to Chicago to defend him. Episode 58: The Mayor (2) In the conclusion, Matlock realizes that a land scam is behind everything, and enlists the dead mayor’s wife as his number one ally. Episode 59: The Black Widow When convicted murderer Ken Wilson’s “murdered” wife turns up newly dead, Matlock is hired to defend him. Episode 60: The Other Woman Matlock agrees to defend a psychiatrist arrested for killing the husband of one of his patients who he was having an affair with. Episode 61: The Starlet An old friend comes to Matlock and begs him to prove that her daughter is innocent of the murder on her rival after a beauty contest. Episode 62: The Psychic Matlock agrees to defend a psychic, who claims to have seen the murder before it ever took place. Episode 63: The Thief (1) When a rare coin dealer is charged with murder he hires Matlock to defend him. Episode 64: The Thief (2) Matlock finds the rare coin he needs to try and complete the case as Tyler realizes part of Linda's deception is routed in the recent kidnapping of her son. Episode 65: The Thoroughbred The father of a murdered manager of a thoroughbred farm asks Matlock to represent the mentally handicapped man accused of the crime. Episode 66: The Model When he’s hit by a car, Matlock suffers a setback in a case he’s been struggling with must put the case together from scratch. Episode 67: The Cult After his son becomes brainwashed by a cult, his father does everything he can to save his son. After the leader of the cult is murdered, Matlock’s defends the father. Episode 68: The Blues Singer When legendary blues singer Eddie Haynes is charged with murder, Matlock agrees to defend the man. Episode 69: The Priest After a local mobster is accused of a priest’s murder, Matlock soon suspects that the Church might be covering something up.
Season Four 1989-1990
Episode 70: The Hunting Party (1) Spencer Hamilton came to Manteo, North Carolina, to locate the man who killed his brother, Frank, in a supposed duck-hunting accident. When the shooter is found dead, Matlock heads to North Carolina to defend the accused Hamilton, and finds an unlikely ally in local deputy Conrad McMasters. Episode 71: The Hunting Party (2) In the conclusion, Matlock works hard to try and defend Spencer and must rely on all his tricks to do so. Episode 72: The Good Boy After her husband's death Bonnie never thought she'd love again, but that changes when she meets Cal Ritter. The only problem is that her son, Tony Morgan, hates Cal. When Tony kills Cal and frames his mother for her murder, Matlock takes the case to prove Bonnie’s innocence. Episode 73: The Best Seller When Elizabeth, a friend of famous novelist Cynthia Slayton, is found dead after taking Cynthia's prescribed allergy medication, suspicion falls on Cynthia's long-suffering husband Philip. While trying to clear his name, Julie soon realizes that not everything is as it appears in the Slayton house. Episode 74: The Ex Julie heads to Baltimore to defend a man accused of killing the newspaper editor who dragged his name through the mud. Matlock lends Julie a hand when the prosecutor, happens to be her ex-husband. Episode 75: The Clown Matlock agrees to defend aging clown Homer Fleming after he's charged with the murder of his long-time partner, Simon. After asking Conrad to go undercover as a roustabout at the circus, Matlock learns that everyone in the circus had a very good reason to hate Simon Le Simple. Episode 76: The Star Catherine McKay is an aging prima Donna who only had one hit movie in her career. When she's found dead, suspicion lands on Noel Bishop, the horror film director that wanted her off his picture. Episode 77: The Con Man After he's conned by a group of con men, Brian Davis is accused of murdering one of them. Matlock agrees to take on the case, while Michelle tries to get close to one of the remaining con artists. Episode 78: The Prisoner (1) When a prison guard is accused of murder, Matlock must go into the prison himself to defend the man. Episode 79: The Prisoner (2) In the conclusion, Matlock finds the weapon inside the prison and Conrad works on the outside to clear the guard to keep Matlock safe. Episode 80: The Fugitive Matlock takes the case of Drew Carey, a young man he has known since childhood, who is accused of murdering his uncle in a fit of drunken rage. Drew has grown up into a spoiled, self-centered young man who refuses to listen to anything Matlock tells him and is determined to prove that the killer is his uncle's wife Valerie. Episode 81: The Buddies After an old friend from college dies, Matlock has to investigate his three college chums on the charge of murdering a hitchhiker thirty years earlier. Episode 82: The Scrooge When a scrooge of a storeowner is accused of murdering his partner for being 'good' at Christmas, Matlock agrees to take the case, but the owner isn’t pleased when part of Matlock's fee involves him having to be a 'good' guy. Episode 83: The Witness Sandra Townsend is senior counsel with Drexel, Harris and Townsend. But when she's off work she likes to let her hair down and go to the bars. When her lover threatens to expose her nightlife to her bosses, she murders him. Michelle takes the case as Sandra is a former classmate and good friend, whom Michelle refuses to believe is capable of murder. Episode 84: The Student Matlock goes back to school, and while there, one of his students is accused of murdering the professor she was having an affair with. Matlock soon learns that love wasn't the motive but cheating on tests might be. Episode 85: The Talk Show Talk show host Dan Galloway is murdered after publicly humiliating three women on-air and firing his executive producer. Matlock finds there’s no shortage of suspects, as nearly everyone who ever met the man wanted him dead, but it's up to Matlock to prove whether Marla, Leanne or Katherine committed the crime while trying to prove that his own client, Lisa, did not. Episode 86: The Victim Matlock tries to prove that someone other than his client had a motive to murder his lover and his best bet might be the victim's paraplegic husband. Episode 87: The Kidnapper After Matlock is kidnapped, Michelle and Conrad must go through Matlock's old cases to try to figure out who might be holding him hostage. Episode 88: The Pro Matlock has to defend an arrogant, young tennis professional after his rival is murdered. Episode 89: The Informer (1) When Sam Chandler is found murdered, his lawyer David O'Malley is the prime suspect...in part because Sam was sleeping with David's wife. Episode 90: The Informer (2) With Angela's help, Conrad tries to track down an informer they believe holds the key to Sam Chandler's murder. Episode 91: The D.A. Julie becomes the target of a witness with severe psychological problems, leaving Matlock and Conrad to find out who is threatening her, and why. Episode 92: The Blackmailer Cartoonist Ron Winfield has kept Atlanta enthralled with his recent storyline in "The Peach Pit," involving an affair by Senator Peter Dolan. But just before the woman in the affair can be named in print, the strips mysteriously disappear which brings Matlock on the case. Episode 93: The Cookie Monster When cookie maker Katie White announces her plans to take over a number of smaller baking companies, she mysteriously dies from an allergic reaction to hazel nuts. Matlock must figure out which one of her rivals may have killed her.
Season Five 1990-1991
Episode 94: The Mother
Phyllis Todd confesses to the murder of her boss to protect her daughter but Matlock soon sees through his client's ruse. Episode 95: Nowhere to Turn (1) Matlock has to defend himself against a charge of murder when a judge who issued a contempt citation against him turns up dead. Episode 96: Nowhere to Turn (2) In the conclusion, Matlock defends himself on the murder charges from the dead judge who had held him in contempt. Episode 97: The Madam A call girl blackmails her employer to stay on the payroll, but when one of them winds up dead, Matlock takes the case. Episode 98: The Personal Trainer When personal trainer Harry Slade is murdered, Matlock agrees to defend his roofer, George Wilton, on the condition that George finish his roof. The case becomes complicated when it turns out that Harry was sleeping with multiple women. Episode 99: The Narc When Ed Tobias is found murdered after exposing his dirty cop co-workers, who sold drugs they didn't turn in, Lt. Brooks asks Matlock to defend the accused killer, Johnny Bauer. Matlock agrees to defend Bauer, even though he feels Bauer is just as dirty as his colleagues because he knew what they were up to and kept quiet. Episode 100: The Secret (1) When a gambler is accused of killing his bookie, Matlock agrees to take the case, believing someone from the bookie's past is the guilty party. Episode 101: The Secret (2) In the conclusion, Matlock sends Conrad to Chicago in order to collect evidence that could prove his client is innocent. Episode 102: The Brothers Lowell Carr is a brilliant plastic surgeon but when his partner is found murdered following a loud argument about dissolving their business, he becomes the prime suspect...until Matlock meets his twin brother, Gary. Episode 103: The Cover Girl Conrad is thrilled to introduce Matlock to his new girlfriend Carla Royce. But after Carla's boss is murdered, Matlock agrees to defend the accused at her bequest. Episode 104: The Biker After Nicky, a well-known actor with a bad reputation, is murdered, a judge friend of Matlock's asks him to defend his son Cliff, who had been fired from his job as Nicky's bodyguard. Episode 105: The Broker After stockbroker Richard Wagner is murdered, his former partner needs Julie's help in order to prove his innocence. Episode 106: The Fighter When fighter Billy Leon is accused of murdering reporter Nick Underwood, a man he thought was his friend but announced in the paper that he was using steroids, Matlock agrees to take him on as a client. Episode 107: The Critic Sam Spelvin has been Matlock’s friend since childhood, so Matlock agrees to consult on Sam's play, Lovers and Lawyers. When noted critic John Bosley Hackett, wrote the play was one of the worst in history, he is found murdered, and Sam is arrested. Matlock agrees to defend Sam, and manages to find a few more people who would be more than happy to see Hackett dead...and to see Sam's play fail. Episode 108: The Parents Howard and Amy have all their dreams answered when Jill plans to give them the child she was carrying. After Jill changes her mind and is found dead, Howard and Amy become the prime suspects in her murder. However, Matlock suspects that the birth father may also have a motive for murder. Episode 109: The Man of the Year When Matlock is to be named man of the year, his car breaks down and he's forced to ask his housekeeper for a ride. A simple twenty-minute trip soon turns into a day he’ll never forget. Episode 110: The Arsonist Marvin Sheam and Sid Franklin have been in business for 32 years. When their bank loan is denied and they can't pay their bills, Marv tries to talk Sid into hiring an arsonist to torch their business so they can collect the insurance money. But before Marv has a chance to talk to the arsonist again, he winds up dead outside his daughter's wedding reception, and Sid gets blamed. Episode 111: The Formula Matlock takes on a case involving his former painter who has been charged with murdering a man he claims asked him to steal a formula for. Matlock grows suspicious when it turns out his former painter might not be telling the whole truth about the incident. Episode 112: The Trial (1) When assistant D.A. Howard Wright is murdered in his workshop, the attorney general asks Matlock to take on the assignment of special prosecutor. Matlock begins to investigate Wright's past, and realizes the man was spending money that he could not have earned legitimately. By investigating names that Wright had left behind, Matlock soon finds himself in the middle of a lawsuit. Episode 113: The Trial (2) In the conclusion, Matlock manages to figure out what's going on, but his competition tries to force him out of the final round. Episode 114: The Accident Eugene Dobbs and Nolan Wheeler are the perfect combination -- Dobbs presents the cases, and Wheeler does all the legwork. After Dobbs turns up dead, Kramer becomes the prime suspect. Matlock takes the case and findd an interesting link between Dobbs, the owner of a local water park, and Dobbs' wife. Episode 115: The Celebrity Matlock defends a one-time movie queen who is accused of murdering her ex-lover to prevent the publication of some revealing photos taken of her.
Season Six 1991- 1992
Episode 116: The Witness Killings (1)
Matlock goes back to his hometown for a family reunion, but things turn tragic when a good friend of his nephew's son dies, and his rival is charged with the murder. Not only must Matlock deal with this, but the whole town seems to hate him, as many believe he thinks he's better because he's a big city lawyer. Episode 117: The Witness Killings (2) After a second young man dies under mysterious circumstances, Matlock continues to do his best to defend Russ Gifford, and tries to keep his animosity with the town to a minimum. Meanwhile, Conrad investigates a tattoo that could tie the whole case together. Episode 118: The Strangler Serial killer Jeffrey Speidel strangles his victims. When Matlock becomes involved in the case, Speidel makes a point of turning Matlock into his next victim. Episode 119: The Nightmare After a bump on the head, Matlock has a nightmare where he is trapped in the Old West, and needs to save Conrad from an angry lynch mob after he is accused of murder. Episode 120: The Marriage Counselor When a marriage counselor is murdered, the suspects include not only his fellow co-workers, but also the couples he was treating...as part of his treatment involved seducing the female half of the couples. Episode 121: The Dame A chance meeting with a woman causes Matlock to tell the story of his investigation, many years earlier, involving a widow that Matlock's father Charlie believes may have been involved with the death of his friend, who was also her husband. Episode 122: The Suspect (1) Matlock defends a wealthy widow charged with the murder of her husband; while Michelle helps to defend a father accused of murdering the drug-dealing cop who got his child hooked. Episode 123: The Suspect (2) In the conclusion, Matlock continues to try and prove his client’s innocence and Michelle works to defend a father accused of murder. Episode 124: The Defense Teenager Danny Hayes is on trial for the murder of his father. Danny believed that his father was about to kill his mother as he had threatened to, but the testimony of his father's best friend could derail Danny's chance at freedom. Episode 125: The Game Show When the producer of a popular game show is murdered, Matlock defends the aging host, while Michelle must go undercover as a contestant. Episode 126: The Foursome Matlock reluctantly agrees to defend a millionaire accused of murdering his daughter's fiancé. At the same time, Matlock is dealing with a brand new deputy district attorney. Episode 127: The Picture (1) After much persuasion, Matlock agrees to help his cousin locate her erstwhile husband, using a doctored photograph to help find him. Episode 128: The Picture (2) Matlock successfully defends his cousin on charges of murder, but when it's all said and done, he still can't stand her. Episode 129: The Outcast (1) Matlock retires from law after bungling up a case and forgetting his client's name. He heads out of town to do some fishing, but after a hitchhiker he gave a lift to dies mysteriously, he sticks around to investigate the case. Episode 130: The Outcast (2) In the conclusion, Matlock continues to try and crack the case of the hitchhiker who died mysteriously. Episode 131: The Big Payoff Michelle helps an insurance investigator prove that a man killed his wealthy wife to collect on the insurance money. Episode 132: The Abduction Matlock has every intention of preserving lawyer/client confidentiality, but when a group of mobsters kidnap Michelle to extort information from Matlock, he might have to put his professional ethics aside to save her life. Episode 133: Mr. Awesome Conrad asks Matlock to defend a woman charged with the murder of her cheating ex-boyfriend Dwayne Meeks. It's not long before Matlock realizes that the woman’s son Jimmy could hold the key to the entire case. Episode 134: The Evening News (1) Billy Finley is fired after he reports on two different stories, one about Matlock, the other about politician Joe Bivins. Shortly after, the body of another fired co-worker, Doug Levitt, is found, and Billy becomes the first suspect. Matlock agrees to defend him, but what Matlock doesn't realize is that Levitt faked his own death. Episode 135: The Evening News (2) In the conclusion, the real murderer winds up being murdered himself, which doesn't help Matlock's client much. There's also a real estate scam looming in the wings that could affect the case as well. Episode 136: The Assassination (1) When the local mayor is assassinated, the case takes a turn when a judge is accused of murdering a local man's wife, and Matlock and Leanne must work out the problems in their relationship in order to clear their client of murder. Episode 137: The Assassination (2) In the conclusion, Matlock and Leanne team up to try the case of the assassinated mayor while trying to repair their own fractured relationship.
Season Seven 1993
Episode 138: The Vacation (1) Matlock and Leanne head to the beach where Leanne reunites with three good friends from college. Meanwhile, Matlock has a reunion of his own, who just happens to be the brother of the woman whose heart Matlock 'broke' years earlier. Episode 139: The Vacation (2) In the conclusion, Leanne's soon begins to suspect one of her college friends of murder. Billy Lewis is determined to get back at Matlock for breaking his sister’s heart. Episode 140: The Legacy (1) After Brian Martell is arrested and charged with the murder of Arthur Kendall, Matlock decides to get involved because, his father Charlie had been a suspect in the murder of Arthur's father Jake -- a murder Brian's father Lee was convicted of. Episode 141: The Legacy (2) Although Josh Winfield confessed to the murder of Arthur Kendall, Matlock has Conrad take a closer look at the woman Kendall had been with not long before he died. Conrad learns there is another connection between Yolanda and Kendall. Episode 142: The Ghost Mike Wilson begs Matlock to help his wife Janice out when she is accused of a crime. Matlock approaches Janice's lawyer, who thinks Matlock is delirious, because Janice is on trial for killing Mike. Is he seeing ghosts? Episode 143: The Class Matlock talks to a law class about his career, and the subject of 'the perfect murder' comes up. When student Eddie Price disappears, the university believes that Matlock's speech may be the cause. To clear his name, Matlock and Leanne decide to engage the students in an investigation into Eddie's disappearance. Episode 144: The Singer Matlock defends a producer accused of killing a singer, and must prove that someone else at the recording studio was guilty. Episode 145: The Mark When Billy Wheeler comes back to town $250,000 richer after having won the lottery, he soon falls for contractor Judy Wilson. But when she takes him for a ride, Billy is accused of her murder, and Matlock must clear his name. Episode 146: The Juror Matlock is planning a birthday fishing trip when he is summoned for jury duty. Despite his protests, Matlock ends up being juror number six, and while everyone else on the jury wants to convict, Matlock disagrees. Episode 147: The Fortune (1) When nephew of an eccentric millionaire is accused of murdering his uncle, Cliff goes to work in the uncles' zoo in order to prove the nephew’s innocence. Meanwhile, Billy persuades Matlock to defend him in court after he becomes involved in an investment scheme. Episode 151: The Obsession Even from his hospital bed Matlock can't get the case of a TV star accused of killing their therapist out of his mind. Episode 152: The Divorce When a couple going through a divorce turns nasty, Leanne represents the wife and Matlock the husband. Meanwhile, a scam artist tries to sue Matlock for millions after injuring himself on Matlock's property. Episode 153: The Final Affair (1) Matlock tries to find out if the archbishop was meant to die in a plot involving an ex-football player, his wife, her lover, and the mafia. While there, they end up getting involved in a pair of murders connected with 2 young women. Episode 158: The Fatal Seduction (2) Matlock and Leanne are convinced that Carrie and Ashley are guilty of not only extortion but murder as well, but the two girls appear to have the airtight alibis. Episode 159: The Diner Matlock takes Leanne to meet the wife of his very first client back in 1962. Matlock’s father had pushed his son to take the case of a black cook accused of killing the white sheriff. Matlock took the case even though some of the town didn’t approve. Episode 160: The View While out of town at a wedding, an ill Matlock witnesses a man attack a woman from the window of the hotel and discovers the next day that the woman has been murdered. Episode 161: The Last Laugh A comedian stands accused of murdering another comic who had insulted him on stage. Episode 162: The Capital Offense Matlock continues his five-year struggle to save a con artist from the electric chair. Episode 163: The Haunted (1) Cliff investigates a suit of medical malpractice and ends up getting more involved than he should with his client. While investigating the case of the mysterious Rod Greenwood, Matlock realizes that their cases are tied together. Episode 164: The Haunted (2) In the conclusion, Cliff and Matlock work together to solve their coinciding cases. Episode 165: The Conspiracy Matlock defends a lawyer accused of murdering an associate, who had accused Matlock of botching a lawsuit involving toxic waster polluters. Episode 168: The Kidnapping (1) Abductors try to kidnap Leanne but take Billy instead and hold him for ransom. Episode 169: The Kidnapping (2) In the conclusion, the FBI agent who was in charge of Billy's kidnapping case is now accused of killing a fellow agent. Episode 170: The Temptation A thug tries to make Leanne fall in love with him by using the journal that he stole from her house. Episode 171: The Crook Matlock agrees to defend Wally McDaniels, a fellow choir member, when he is arrested for killing the man who had turned him into the police for stealing rare books. Episode 172: The Murder Game Matlock reluctantly agrees to spend the weekend as part of a murder mystery with Cliff, Leanne, and three people who each paid $10,000 for the privilege of matching wits with the famous Ben Matlock. But fun soon turns to murder and Matlock must figure out whom the real killer is. Episode 173: Brennen Matlock battles with a formidable D.A. while defending a client accused of killing a city councilwoman. He soon discovers a secret hiding in the D.A.'s past that is affecting his judgment in this case. Episode 174: The P.I. Episode 180: The Scandal As Matlock defends an attorney accused of murdering her boss, he discovers a history of sexual harassment at her law firm. Episode 181: The Dare An eccentric millionaire tells Matlock that he couldn't solve the perfect murder if it were handed to him. To prove his point, he kills Matlock's friend, detective Bob Brooks, and frames another man for the crime. Episode 182: The Tabloid Michael defends U.S. senatorial candidate Carol Davis when she's accused of murdering tabloid editor Ross Buckley. Meanwhile, Jerri goes undercover at the paper to prove that someone there may have had an even bigger motive than Carol. Episode 183: The Coach Matlock takes the case when a basketball coach is accused of murdering an influential booster. Episode 184: The Dating Game After Cliff's friend, Fred, is accused of murdering a woman he met through the dating service Perfect Harmony, he and Matlock take the case, and Jerri must go undercover to investigate. Episode 185: The Confession Julie returns for a legal conference when a former snitch calls her to the jailhouse and admits that he lied. Julie convinces Matlock to defend the man, who’s an admitted thief. Episode 186: Dead Air A radio personality is accused of killing his partner, but Matlock suspects the victim's girlfriend. Episode 187: The Getaway Matlock takes the case of an ex-convict when he's arrested for robbing a bank he had robbed years before. But Matt Ahern witnesses the whole thing, and the young boy isn't willing to tell the truth unless Matlock promises to get his father out of jail. Episode 188: The Verdict Katie Clark is a hot new prosecutor in town, and her first case involves prosecuting a building contractor who has been accused of murdering one of his employees, who just happens to be Katie’s former lover. Episode 189: The Deadly Dose Jeri's sister Rachel comes to Atlanta looking for help when she is fired from her job as a nurse after a doctor blames her for a mistake that cost a surgery patient her kidney. When the doctor is murdered, Rachel is blamed, and Matlock agrees to defend her. Episode 190: The Target Matlock is the unlikely witness when a boat blows up killing Judge Michael Sterns. Convinced that someone was out to get him and not Judge Sterns, the team takes a look through some of Matlock's old cases to find out who did it. Episode 191: The Assault As Matlock heads into the city to prepare for his birthday, his day becomes derailed by a series of unfortunate events. Episode 192: The Heist (1) Matlock and Jerri head out to the beach with Billy and Cliff as Cliff prepares for an upcoming triathlon. Once there, Matlock is surprised to run into retired F.B.I. agent Ed Wingate, who is investigating a case of his own. When one of the people Ed is investigating is found dead, Matlock agrees to defend his old friend. Episode 193: The Heist (2) In the conclusion, while at a triathlon, Matlock tries to defend his old friend, FBI agent, Ed Wingate. Episode 194: The Scam (1) Cliff's old college buddy Craig Browning is defending Cameron Ivers on charges of vehicular manslaughter, but is being blackmailed about an old affair he had to plead his client a certain way. Craig hires Cliff to meet the blackmailer to keep his hands clean, but when the blackmailer is found dead, suspicion turns to Cliff. Meanwhile, Matlock prepares for his fortieth reunion by dieting to fit into his old choral suit. Episode 195: The Scam (2) In the ninth season finale, when Cameron Ivers is killed in a hit and run accident, Matlock decides to take a closer look at two suspects. Hoping if he can tie them to Cameron’s death, then he'll be able to link them to Scott Aston's death as well and clear Cliff.
