Lynn Whitfield is an Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe nominee for Best Actress in a movie or miniseries for her portrayal of Josephine Baker in HBO’s “The Josephine Baker Story.”

Whitfield is a four-time NAACP Award winner and Gracie Award winner for her starring role in OWN's drama series, “Greenleaf.” This was their third time collaborating following the television movies “The Women of Brewster Place” and “The Wedding.”

Previous film credits are the award-winning Eve’s Bayou, A Thin Line Between Love and Hate, “Taking the Heat,” Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Family Reunion, Stepmom and Head of State. Recent projects include “Vacation Friends” and “Nappily Ever After.”

Whitfield received her BFA from Howard University and joined the theater company, D.C. Black Repertory following her graduation. She later moved to New York City and performed in several off-Broadway shows including the acclaimed Los Angeles production of For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf opposite Alfre Woodard.
