Canadian born actress, producer and director Erica Durance began her acting career in Vancouver appearing as a guest star on a multitude of television productions.
Shortly thereafter, she caught the eye of legendary television director David Nutter and Warner Bros. President Peter Roth. The two were so taken with the new star that Durance was immediately offered a holding deal with Warner Bros. Television and had her pick of that year’s lineup of television pilots.
Two years later, Warner Bros. Television announced a worldwide search for the iconic role of Lois Lane on the smash hit television series “Smallville.” After auditioning hundreds of actresses for the coveted role, Durance was chosen unanimously by both the studio and network executives. Some seven years and 140 episodes later, Durance was cast as the lead in her own show, “Saving Hope,” which went on to become the most-watched Canadian television show for three of the five years it aired.
Durance has starred in numerous television movies for a multitude of networks including Lifetime and Hallmark Channel. She starred in “Unexpected Grace,” “Color My World with Love” and “North to Home” for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and “We Need a Little Christmas,” and “Open by Christmas” for Hallmark Channel. Feature film credits include the starring role in New Line Cinema’s Butterfly Effect II.
